Lighting options to suit your needs
Pencil Beam Driving Lamps
(for long-range illumination)
The Pencil Beam driving lamp is designed for maximum long-range illumination, providing
improved visibility of objects and traffic situations further in the distance. Very little light is
lost to the sides or the area right in front of the vehicle. This pattern is particularly suitable for
vehicles travelling long distances at high speeds, when objects further in the distance must be
recognised quickly to minimise the reaction time of the driver.
Spread Beam Driving Lamps
(for a full field of vision)
The Spread Beam driving lamp provides good illumination of both the area immediately in front
of the vehicle and the road ahead. This pattern is particularly suitable for slower vehicles, such
as trucks and buses, when fatigue-free driving is more important than recognising objects in the
distance.
Hella Fog Lamps (for safe driving in inclement weather)
Fog, rain or snow can reflect the light of standard driving lamps back into your eyes, creating
dangerous glare that makes it difficult to recognise hidden hazards. Hella fog lamps are
equipped with specially designed reflectors, which evenly illuminate the width of the road,

Halogen Free-Form (FF)
WorkLamps
What is FF (Free-Form) technology?
Old-style parabolic reflectors direct light into a
beam that is focused and projected by a single
lens optic. Hella’s FF technology uses over
50,000 computer-designed individual reflector
points to focus the light, thus improving the
brightness of the light and the pattern of the
beam.
Advantages of FF lighting:
• Able to produce much more light than
conventional lamps, which is not only more
efficient, but also saves installation time,
power and maintenance costs.
• Effective beam control directs light more
accurately and evenly, ensuring reduced
bonnet glare and eye fatigue

Australian Design Rules
(ADRs)
On the 1st October 1991, Australia
introduced stringent mandatory
regulations for all vehicles manufactured
on or after that date. These regulations,
known as 3rd Edition Australian Design
Rules (ADRs), stipulate minimum
performance and design standards for
particular vehicle safety features.
Hella supplies over 125 products
complying with current ADRs including
reversing lamps, indicator lamps, reflectors
and filament globes.
To simplify the ADR approval process
for smaller manufacturers and individual
vehicle builders, Hella has made a
consolidated Summary of Evidence (SE)
submission to the Federal Office of Road
Safety (FORS). This submission covers
all Hella products that comply with 3rd
Edition ADRs. For easy reference, Hella
lists both the Hella and FORS Component
Registration
Numbers (CRN)
beside each Part No.
in a quick reference
ADR application
chart at the rear
of this catalogue
(pages 316 - 323 ).
All Hella packaging
now indicates ADR
compliance where
applicable and
lamp identification
information along
with specific ADR related lamp orientation
and mounting requirements.
The provision of this information will
enable customers requiring ADR
compliance to simply quote the relevant
CRN to the authorities, who maintain a
central register, rather than undertake a
detailed SE submission for each lamp
function.

Hella Accessories

Switches
Hella’s range of switches includes: rotary,
toggle, rocker, push/pull, ignition/starter,
battery master, stop lamp and
oil pressure switches - all
manufactured for reliable,
long service life.

Horns
Hella’s horn range includes disc, scroll and
air horns for automotive and commercial
applications.
Tip: Remember to mount horns with the
trumpet in a downward position to reduce
the risk of water build up and potential
damage to the diaphragm of the horn.

Terminals and connectors
Everything you require for repair and
maintenance of your automotive electrical
system. The range includes non-insulated,
insulated and double crimp
varieties and the tools you’ll need
for a professional result. All metal
components of Hella
terminals are made from
100% brass.
Tip: To create a safe effective
connection remember to
always follow the colour coding
marked on the crimp tool
and ensure the same colour
terminal is used. Poorly
crimped terminals are a
common fault found in auto
electrical circuits.
Re-wiring Accessories

Plugs and sockets
Hella’s plug and socket range is ideal for
caravans or trailers. The range includes
metal and plastic models in 5-pin and 7-pin
configuration and a variety of shapes and
sizes. Hella also stocks heavy-duty trailer
connectors, cigarette lighters and special
purpose 2 pole plugs and sockets.

Relays
Hella offers a

relays required for
most types of vehicle
lighting, horns, heating
circuits, fan motors and air-conditioning
equipment, as well as
change-over relays used for switching
current from one user to another.
Tip: Always fit a suitable relay when
installing auxiliary lamps to your vehicle.
